Are you looking for a scientist position with a strong interdisciplinary focus, and do you have a strong interest in cognitive neuroscience? The Integrative Model-based Cognitive Neuroscience (IMCN) Research Group in the Psychology Department is looking for a scientist candidate that will combine model-based fMRI, microscopy and image processing to create 3D reconstructions of the human brain.
Join us!
The IMCN Research Group is a group of world-leading cognitive neuroscientists who
aim to bridge the gap between neuroscience and cognition. Members of the IMCN
have a set of skills ranging from neuroanatomy and neurochemistry via neuroimaging
to mathematical cognitive modelling.
What are you going to do
As part of the trajectory, you will carry out microscopy processing of whole human-brain specimens, digitization of the microscopy slices, subsequent image processing, and statistical modeling. Prior to microscopy processing ultra-high field MRI images will be acquired, and quantitative comparisons will be made across imaging modalities. You will work together with other researchers within the group, and other universities to map whole human-brain postmortem specimen with in-vivo MRI data. You will be hired via the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and collaborate with researchers at UvA and world-wide.
Your experience and profile
- A MSc in engineering, neuroscience or similar;
- A strong interest in image processing;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Strong social skills and professional flexibility to work within a team of interdisciplinary researchers.
What else can we offer you
The position concerns temporary employment of 18 hours per week for a period of 9 months. The initial employment is for three months. Following a positive assessment and barring altered circumstances, this term will be extended. The UvA offers excellent possibilities for further professional development and education.
And we offer more...
- a position in which initiative and input are highly valued
- an enthusiastic and warm team that is open to new colleagues
- an inspiring academic and international working environment in the heart of Amsterdam.
