The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science is looking for a successor to Professor Dr. Erhard Rahm for the above-mentioned professorship at the earliest possible date.
The faculty is inviting applications from internationally renowned researchers in the area of efficient data retrieval, storage, and management as well as analysis of large heterogeneous data sets and streams. Potential research foci are data management to support machine learning methods, advances of NoSQL data base systems as well as machine learning methods to guarantee high data quality for data preparation, cleaning, and integration. With its foundational orientation to computer science aspects of data science this professorship shall support and strengthen research and teaching in the core computer science disciplines. The professorship will actively contribute to the Data Science Center ScaDS.AI and the activities of the Institute of Computer Science in the area of data science. Furthermore, an active teaching contribution to the study programs of the faculty as well as external courses are expected. Major teaching contributions are expected in the M.Sc. program “Data Science“.
The duties also include participation in academic self-administration.
Requirements
In addition to an international reputation, excellent research activity within the outlined subject area and at least one of the possible method-oriented research focuses mentioned are expected, as evidenced by publications and projects. The professorship is expected to contribute to the university's research priorities and to work closely with the Data Science Center ScaDS.AI. Experience and success in the acquisition of third-party funded projects are required. In addition, very good didactic skills and experience in university teaching are expected. Experience in personnel management is desirable. Furthermore, knowledge of German or the willingness to acquire the language within two years of commencing employment is desirable.
