Your job
Do you enjoy contributing to solutions for nitrogen, methane, and particulate matter in the livestock sector?
At Wageningen Livestock Research, you will be involved in innovations for low-emission animal housing and manure storage. As a Measurement Technician, you will combine hands-on implementation with scientific precision. You will support the development and testing of measurement methods that enable continuous and reliable monitoring of emissions.
What will you be doing?
You will act as the link between research and practice, working across the country to carry out measurements within the livestock sector. As a Measurement Technician, your tasks will include:
- Conducting on-site measurements
- Processing and analysing data
- Maintaining measuring equipment
You will contribute expert input to project plans and ensure that measurements are conducted according to agreed parameters. You will combine data with your own observations and practical insights, maintaining close contact with both researchers and farmers.
Where will you be working?
You will be part of the Air Quality Laboratory (AQL), which is part of the Emissions and Manure Valorisation department. Together with around 10 colleagues, you will be responsible for measurements, data, and equipment. Within the team, you will have the opportunity to develop your own area of expertise.
About Emissions and Manure Valorisation
The Emissions and Manure Valorisation department conducts practice-oriented research to promote a healthier living environment and a more sustainable livestock sector. You will work alongside a diverse group of around 40 colleagues – from researchers to analysts – within Wageningen University & Research, as well as with external partners.
Your qualities
You are independent and take responsibility, but you also enjoy working as part of a team. With your practical mindset and technical insight, you are solution-oriented. You work accurately, communicate easily, and show initiative. You enjoy hands-on fieldwork and are curious about the data you collect and analyse. You gain energy from supporting colleagues with technical challenges in the field.
You also possess:
- A relevant higher professional (HBO) qualification, for example in livestock farming, environmental science and/or technology, with demonstrable affinity for data processing. If you hold a vocational (MBO) diploma in a relevant field and have suitable work experience, we also encourage you to apply;
- Affinity with the livestock sector and a strong interest in environmental developments;
- Sufficient command of the Dutch language and a valid category B driving licence (preferably also BE).
