AMR is one of the most pressing public health threats of our time. Are you ready to join the fight against antimicrobial resistance? As a researcher with entrepreneurial skills you will preform research on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research at WBVR, and develop together with the group the future directions.
Your role
As a senior researcher, you will play a key role in advancing our national and international position in the field of AMR, integrating scientific excellence with strategic project development and stakeholder engagement.
- Design, lead, acquire research projects that contribute to the national and international AMR agenda.
- Apply advanced molecular and epidemiological methods to unravel AMR mechanisms in animal and foodborne pathogens.
- Translate research outcomes into high-impact publications and actionable insights for policymakers and veterinarians
- Actively pursue funding opportunities and partnerships with industry, academia, and government.
- Technical Innovation by identifying emerging trends in antimicrobial resistance that address future challenges
Your teamWBVR is appointed as National Reference Laboratory for antimicrobial resistance (NRL-AR) in animals and is an active research group within the AMR field. As a consequence, ongoing monitoring activities are combined with a variety of research projects. You will work within the group that consists of the head of NRL-AR, research scientists , PhD student and technicians all working closely together covering the different tasks and disciplines.
Your qualities
- A PhD in life sciences, veterinary medicine, or a related discipline;
- Proven expertise in molecular microbiology; AMR-specific experience is highly desirable;
- A track record of peer-reviewed publications and international presentations;
- A proactive, solution-driven mindset;
- Entrepreneurship and the ability to identify and develop new opportunities within research and collaboration;
- Strong networking and collaboration skills; experience in multi-stakeholder environments is a plus;
- Fluent in English, with a willingness to learn Dutch if not already proficient.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3.868,- and € 6008,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 11). As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended on good performance. Of course, we are happy to have a conversation with you if you have any questions about this.
