The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science seeks to fill the following professorship at the earliest opportunity:
Applications are invited from an internationally outstanding mathematician working in a current field of geometry and topology. There is particular interest in modern scientific foci that complement the research based at the Institute of Mathematics and allow close cooperation with groups at the MPI MIS, especially the Department of Geometry, Groups and Dynamics. These include: Differential geometry, geometric group theory, metric geometry, geometric topology, low-dimensional topology and geometric structures on manifolds.
Duties
In addition to cooperating with colleagues at the Institute of Mathematics and the MPI MIS, the future post holder is expected to work closely with scientists in the research profile area “Mathematical and Computational Sciences” at Leipzig University. The scope of duties also includes participation in academic self-administration.
Requirements
A successful application requires proof of excellent international publications. Successful acquisition of third-party research funding and broad teaching experience in mathematics are also required. The appointment requirements pursuant to § 59 SächsHSG must be met.
