Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Stroke Unit team to deliver a research project examining the management of swallow screening following stroke. The post holders will be involved with all aspects of clinical research participation, including data collection and follow up of study participants, in addition to associated administration. The post holders will support the Principal Investigators and co-investigators of the study. As part of this role, training and mentorship in clinical research skills will also be provided.

The post holder will be able to work both collaboratively and independently to ensure that patients are safe and comfortable throughout all clinical study processes; and to ensure the study is managed in accordance with ‘Good Clinical Practice’ and ‘Research Governance’.

Main duties of the job

With support from the clinical academic leads, the post holders will:

·Conduct literature reviews of swallow screening tools

·Design and undertake a national survey of current practice in swallow screening

·Interview patients, staff and family members about their experiences of swallow screening

·Analyse data and write up results for peer reviewed publications

·Produce recommendations for future practice based on the results of the project

·Liaise with patient and public involvement groups

·Disseminate findings at conferences

·Undertake research methods training
