Postdoc in detection methods for monitoring of gene therapy in patient material

Published 2024-04-02

Job description

Gene therapies based on viral vectors are currently on the rise with several new approvals or therapies based on Adeno associated viruses (AAVs) in recent years. One challenge is to ensure that patients given treatment actually receive a supply of AAV and expression of the intended therapy during ongoing treatment. We are therefore currently looking for a postdoctoral fellow who will work on being able to detect viral DNA, capsids and signatures. These methods would also potentially be used for detection of gene doping as a test method for illegal performance enhancing substances in athletes. The person we are looking for will have tasks that revolve around ITR-interactions with replication proteins, oxford nanopore sequencing, virus production in mammalian cells as well as purification, quantification and analysis of these virus particles. The project is given in collaboration with clinical researchers with the goal of being able to follow treatment in patients. The person will work with various methods such as NGS sequencing, molecular cloning, ELISA, ELISpot, protein expression and affinity determinations. We are looking for a person that is driven and has a great analytical capacity.
