Ca’ Foscari is looking for a full professor of Chinese and South Asian Languages and Literature, capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world. 

Teaching duties: The successful candidate will guarantee the teaching of 120 hours of curricular and supplementary teaching the BA, MA and PhD courses related to the academic discipline L-OR/21 - Chinese and South Asian Languages and Literatures at an introductory and advanced level, with the use of advanced teaching methods and tools, including the use of original language sources.

Research duties: The successful candidate will have to contribute to the Department's research with specific focus on the narrative models and forms of representation of human experience in modern and contemporary Chinese texts, on the definition of literary categories and twentieth-century Chinese narrative currents in the light of the models and genres defined by Western theories, as well as on the problems and strategies to be adopted for the translation of modern and contemporary Chinese literary works according to the methodologies and tools developed in the field by the most recent research.

The position will be hosted in the Department of Asian and North African Studies
The skills and scientific interests of the Department faculty members cover a wide geographic area from Africa to Japan. The specific fields of interest, often cross-disciplinary, can be divided into four main areas: linguistics, philology and literature; religions and philosophy; archaeology and cultural heritage conservation, figurative arts and performances; history, institutions, economics, society, politics and international relations.

The Department has strong international ties for educational, research and cultural purposes, which result in events, research fundings, Joint and Double Degree programmes and mobility opportunities for students and staff members.
