The University of Zurich invites applications for a

professorship in clinical biopsychology and psychotherapy

starting on 1 August 2025.

Candidates must have a proven track record in research, teaching and clinical practice. They perform excellent research with an international impact in clinical biopsychology and have an innovative and promising research profile with experience in psychobiological research and methods. The methods used combine psychological with neurobiological, neuroendocrine and/or immunological measurements. Successful candidates must have relevant teaching experience in the field of clinical biopsychology and should be able to rep resent the biologyoriented area of clinical psychology in terms of its foundations, theories, methods and interventions across the board in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in psychology. The ability to lead a biochemistry laboratory would be advantageous.

In addition to providing innovative research impetus for the discipline, candidates are expected to collaborate in research and teaching with other professors in the Department of Psychology and contribute to the Mental Health research focus and, as appropriate, to the other research focuses in the department. Furthermore, cooperation with other professorships at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences as well as at other faculties of UZH is expected. One of the tasks linked with the professorship is leading the psychotherapeutic outpatient unit, which is affiliated with the chair. The outpatient unit is part of the UZH Center for Psychotherapy.

A PhD in the field completed at the time of application as well a s further excellent scientific publications as part of a habilitation or equivalent achievements are required. Psychotherapeutic training as a psychotherapist in cognitive behavioral therapy for adults («eidgenössisch anerkannte Psychotherapeutin oder eidgenössisch anerkannter Psychotherapeut» or equivalent license to practice psychotherapy) is a mandatory requirement for the professorship. Due to the field of activity of the professorship, German language skills are a further prerequisite for the professorship.
