Academic context
The Wilhelm Wundt Institute for Psychology at Leipzig University has a longstanding tradition of research in brain and behaviour. We are seeking an internationally recognized scholar with substantial teaching and research expertise in the field of general psychology.
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for research and teaching in the field of general psychology and cognitive neuroscience at the Wilhelm Wundt Institute for Psychology at Leipzig University. This includes undergraduate teaching in the polyvalent Bachelor's programme in Psychology (including topics such as attention, learning, memory, emotion and motivation), as well as in the general Master's programme in Psychology with a focus on brain and behaviour in the field of cognitive neuroscience. Active participation in academic self-governance is expected.
Requirements
We seek a candidate with outstanding expertise in the study of (neuro)cognitive functions (e.g., attention, learning and memory) demonstrated through behavioural experiments as well as electrophysiological methods and/or functional imaging. Experience in cognitive modelling is desirable.
We expect an excellent track record in the field of general psychology.
Excellent teaching skills and experience in university teaching in the field of general psychology are expected, including supervision of students and graduate theses. The ability to teach in German is required.
Proven success in acquiring competitive third-party funding and willingness to participate in collaborative research projects is required.
Readiness to cooperate with research groups at the Wilhelm Wundt Institute for Psychology, other groups at the Faculty of Life Sciences and further relevant institutions at Leipzig University (e.g., Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Computer Science) as well as non-university research institutions (e.g., Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences) is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the university's research priorities and graduate schools (IMPRS CoNI and Brain Dynamics). Experience in personnel management is desirable. Commitment to transparent, reproducible and open science practices is expected.
