As of August 1, 2026, the Department of Languages and Literatures of the University of Basel (English division, Prof. Miriam Locher) is seeking to fill a 60% post-doc position in English linguistics. The position is intended for further academic qualification and is limited in duration (2+4 years).
Your position
- Further academic qualification (second book or cumulative)
- Two hours of teaching per week in English and/or general linguistics
- Administrative tasks
- Student advising, supervision of written work, examiner of oral and written exams in English linguistics
- Play an active role in the departmental linguistics team
Your profile
- excellent, linguistically oriented degree (MA/PhD) in the field of English linguistics (or, if applicable, comparative linguistics)
- Independence, initiative, ability to work in a team, commitment to the general interests of the linguistics team
- Willingness to be present in Basel for at least two full days
- Applications with a postdoctoral project are only possible with a completed doctorate
