Technician Bank Staff - Bio Model Manufacture
Salary- £27,246 - £28,608 per annum (pro rata)
Hourly paid contract paid on a project-by-project basis
About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and skilled individual to join our technical team, supporting the small‑scale production of silicone‑based bio‑models for industry partners and commercial clients. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a growing commercial environment within the Anatomical Replication and Manufacturing department, helping us deliver high‑quality products while contributing to a positive, industry‑focused workplace.
In this hands‑on role, you will produce moulds and tools, prepare silicone-based composites, and ensure all materials, equipment and workspaces meet the highest standards. You will take responsibility for tracking material usage, supporting stock procurement, and carrying out routine maintenance to keep the manufacturing area running smoothly.
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic team player, able to collaborate effectively with colleagues while also working independently when required. You will build and maintain strong internal and external contacts, stay up to date with developments in the field, and ensure Health and Safety regulations are consistently met.
If you are organised, practical, and keen to share your skills within an innovative and commercially driven environment, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help us shape the future of bio‑model manufacturing.
For more details, please take a look at the role profile. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.

About Us
Our department is pioneering new ways to support surgical training and improve patient outcomes by transforming how surgeons prepare for complex procedures. Traditionally, surgeons have relied on cadavers or real patients to develop their skills, with limited opportunities to practice outside clinical settings.
Led by Senior Research Fellow Richard Arm, our team is revolutionising this process through advanced manufacturing and medical modelling. By converting patient scan data into highly realistic 3D‑printed organs that match the exact shape, size and tactile qualities of human tissue, we provide surgeons with an accurate, hands-on platform for rehearsal. These innovations enable clinicians to refine techniques, anticipate challenges, and approach intricate or life‑saving surgeries with greater confidence and reduced risk.
