About the position
The NMBU School of Economics and Business invites applications for a permanent position as Associate Professor in Accounting and Management Control.
We are looking for a candidate with strong academic competence in accounting, management control or related fields, and an interest in applying research-based knowledge to organisational decision-making, reporting, governance and performance management. Relevant areas may include, but are not limited to, financial accounting, management accounting, management control, corporate reporting, sustainability reporting, auditing, performance measurement and business analysis.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to research, teaching and supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels. The position includes responsibility for developing and teaching courses in accounting, management control, and related fields; supervising student theses; publishing in high-quality academic journals; and contributing to externally funded research projects.
The candidate will also be expected to take part in the academic development of the School’s study programmes, online education, and research environment.
As an AACSB-accredited business school, we offer a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment with research and education in economics, business administration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and bioeconomy. We are seeking a colleague who can help strengthen our profile in accounting and management control and contribute to research-based education. The successful candidate should be able to help prepare students to analyse, manage, and develop organisations in a changing society.
Main tasks
The main tasks of the position are to:
- Conduct high-quality research in accounting, management control, or related fields, and publish regularly in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Teach and develop courses in accounting, management control and related subjects across the School’s study programmes, including relevant online courses.
- Supervise bachelor’s, master’s and PhD students, including thesis supervision in topics related to accounting, reporting, management control, governance and business analysis.
- Contribute to the continued development of the School’s teaching and research environment in accounting, management control, and business administration.
- Apply for and contribute to externally funded research projects, including interdisciplinary projects relevant to NMBU’s profile.
- Collaborate with businesses, public organisations, professional bodies, and other external stakeholders.
- Contribute to administrative tasks and other shared activities at the School together with colleagues and students.
Competence
All qualifications below are required for the position, unless it is specified that they are considered an advantage.
Required qualifications
The applicant must have:
- A PhD in accounting, management control, business administration or a closely related field relevant to the position, or equivalent competence documented through academic work of the same scope and quality.
- Documented research competence and publication record within accounting, management control, business administration or other related fields relevant to the position.
- Educational competence in accordance with NMBU’s requirements for associate professors. Any missing educational competence must be acquired within two years of appointment.
- Good oral and written communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, as well as in English.
Qualifications considered an advantage
- Experience with empirical and interdisciplinary research, as well as externally funded research projects or research collaboration.
- Experience with course and programme development, student-active learning, online teaching and teaching across business administration programmes.
- Experience with dissemination, collaboration with businesses, public organisations, professional bodies, or other external stakeholders
- Experience with academic administration or institutional development.
Terms and further information
The position is placed in position code 1011 Associate Professor (NOK NOK 720.000-920.000) depending on qualifications. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. Seniority promotion in the position. Exceptionally qualified candidates may apply for promotion to Professor after three months.
