About
I am a Ph.D. in Forest Sciences with a strong interdisciplinary background spanning ecological research, fieldwork, and data science. I currently work as a Data Manager at the MOBI Lab (Czech University of Life Sciences), where I design and maintain large-scale ecological databases, including a temporally replicated Breeding Birds Atlas (~11 million records). My work integrates PostgreSQL/PostGIS, R, Python, and Linux-based systems to support reproducible, scalable ecological analyses.
I specialize in geospatial data and research infrastructure development. I routinely process large biodiversity datasets, support collaborative coding workflows, and contribute to peer-reviewed research. Examples of my work (available on GitHub) include database design for biodiversity monitoring, analysis of protected area spatial configurations and their ecological implications, and development of HPC-ready workflows for scientific computing. I also actively share reproducible tools and tutorials to support research teams and broader communities.
My background combines advanced technical expertise with hands-on ecological research, including field campaigns in temperate forests, canopy ecology, and biodiversity monitoring in Chile. I have also held administrative leadership roles in sustainability, strengthening my ability to work across disciplines and institutional contexts.
I bring nearly two decades of Linux experience, formal training in geocomputation and machine learning, and a strong commitment to open, reproducible science. My career focus lies at the intersection of data science and ecology, where I aim to develop robust analytical systems that support biodiversity research and environmental decision-making.
