About
I am Hamid Nazir, an anthropologist with a 2:1 degree from Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan. My academic and field interests lie in political ecology, environmental anthropology, and climate justice. I’ve conducted extensive research on the socio-ecological impacts of CPEC on indigenous fishing communities in Gwadar and marine ecologies of the Arabian Sea. My recent work also includes fieldwork on the Ravi River, exploring issues of displacement, environmental degradation, and local resilience. I apply ethnographic methods, oral histories, and spatial analysis in my research. I have experience working as a Research Assistant with Dr. Waqas H. Butt (University of Toronto) and have published public essays on environmental themes. I’ve also participated in peacebuilding and climate programs with institutions like New York University (NYU), IUCN Pakistan, and the UN Millennium Fellowship. I’m seeking a fully funded PhD opportunity where I can deepen my research on environmental change, cultural practices, and marginalized communities, ideally within structured interdisciplinary programs in Europe or beyond.
