Dr. Rex B. Mbewe is a highly motivated and versatile scientist with expertise in biology, entomology, environmental science, and education. He combines strong analytical skills with extensive experience working in research, academic, laboratory, and field environments. Having completed his PhD in the United States and his Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Malawi, he brings both international research experience and a deep understanding of local public health and environmental challenges.
His research focuses on mosquito vector surveillance, vector ecology, molecular entomology, and the application of innovative approaches to vector-borne disease control. He has successfully led multidisciplinary research projects, coordinated large field studies, managed laboratory and insectary operations, and collaborated with national and international partners to generate evidence that informs vector control policy and practice.
Dr. Mbewe is recognized for his collaborative leadership, scientific rigor, and commitment to innovation. He is adaptable to evolving research priorities and methodologies and is passionate about applying cutting-edge scientific approaches to address complex public health challenges. His long-term goal is to become an internationally recognized independent researcher, advancing translational research in vector-borne diseases and integrated pest management (IPM) while mentoring the next generation of scientists.
