About
I am Syed Tahir Abbas, a dedicated historian of international relations specializing in the structural and ideational roots of great power competition, with a focus on Sino-US relations, historical analogies in diplomacy, and the interplay of technology, gender, and civilizational narratives in global order. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in History of International Relations at Southwest University, Chongqing, China (expected graduation July 2026, GPA 4.225/5.0, Top 5%), I hold an M.A. in History from the University of Sargodha, Pakistan (2019-2021, GPA 3.63/4.00, First Class). My thesis analyzes the resurgence of U.S. containment policy and its implications for China's rise.
With 8 peer-reviewed publications in journals like Contemporary Journal of Social Science Review and Cogent Social Sciences, I explore topics such as US-China AI diplomacy, philosophical connections between Yin-Yang and Western dualism, and gender inclusion in emerging economies. As a contributing writer for WorldAffair.org, I author analytical articles on Middle Eastern geopolitics and US foreign policy. My professional experience includes a Research Internship at Luhai International Communication Foundation (Feb-Jul 2025), where I supported track-II diplomacy and drafted policy memos; Lecturer in History at Govt. Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Associate College (Jan-Jul 2023); and Graduate Assistant at Southwest University (Sept 2024-Present), mentoring students and organizing events.
Proficient in qualitative and quantitative research methods (NVivo, SPSS, Python, GIS), multilingual (English fluent, Mandarin intermediate HSK 3, Urdu/Punjabi native, Arabic basic), and award-winning (Excellent Foreign Student Prize 2024/2025), I seek academic or research roles in Europe to advance cross-cultural diplomatic studies and global governance.
