Looking for Tutorial Teachers and Teaching Assistants
Starting this August, the Psychology Department (FMG) is looking for passionate Tutorial Teachers and Teaching Assistants to join our Bachelor’s program. You will lead small groups of students through the core curriculum. We offer various contract sizes and positions (student assistant/teacher), with hours ranging from 11 to 31 hours per week. Please read the specific requirements for each profile below carefully before applying.
What are you going to do
For Teaching Assistant positions (only for current Master students):
We are looking for students with a talent for academic writing to support our Practical Training: Psychological Research. You will:
- Teach tutorials focused on research and writing skills;
- Provide high-quality feedback and grade written assignments;
- Assess and grade final research papers.
For Teacher positions (MSc holders):
In the first semester, you will teach in our shared bachelor program in courses focused on statistics, academic writing and philosophy of science. In the second semester, you will teach in the Major related to your department (Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology Psychology, Brain & Cognition, Social Psychology, or Work & Organizational Psychology). You will:
- Teach tutorial sessions for various courses
- Provide high-quality feedback and grade written assignments and oral presentations
- Guide students through their individual learning processes and academic growth
- Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate our teaching methods during weekly meetings and yearly course development
For both positions:
- Are available every Tuesday from 16.00-17.00 in the first semester to attend our team meeting, in which we evaluate last week's tutorial meetings together and look ahead to next week.
What do you have to offer
You enjoy supervising groups of (international) students in the second/third year of their psychology studies. You like teaching academic skills such as data analysis (statistics), scientific writing, argumentation, and philosophy of science, and you enjoy exploring specialized topics and skills with your students in their Major program. You are interested in teaching, you want to develop yourself as a teacher and reflect on your own skills and the educational program. You have excellent communication and social skills, you are teachable and open to learning new didactic skills, and you can work both independently and function well in a team.
Because we are a bilingual bachelor’s program, we are looking for tutorial teachers who can teach either in English or in Dutch. Given the increase in Dutch students, Dutch speaking tutors are preferred, and some Majors are only offered in Dutch.
You should be available to start working on the 17th of August 2026.
Your experience and profile for the Teaching Assistant (TA) position:
You:
- Are registered as a Master student at a Dutch university for the length of your employment (Sept- end of Jan)
- Have affinity with scientific writing and teaching
- Have good scientific writing skills and an excellent command of the respective teaching language
Your experience and profile for the Teacher (D4) position: You;
- Have recently obtained a master’s degree (or PhD) in Psychology or a strongly related field
- Have affinity with scientific writing, data-analysis, statistics, argumentation, and philosophy of science
- Have good scientific writing skills and an excellent command of the respective teaching language
- Have a background in one or more of the Major programs (see below)
Department specific requirements for the teaching position
Clinical Psychology
You have a strong affinity with clinical psychology, ideally demonstrated by completion of a 1- or 2-year Master's program in this field. You preferably have some experience in clinical practice (at minimum completed clinical internship), and you preferably have completed your Basisaantekening Psychodiagnostiek (BAPD).
What else do we offer you
