To strengthen the Department of Paediatric Dentistry, ACTA is looking for a researcher to contribute to innovative research in the field of oral health, with a particular focus on paediatric dentistry.
As a researcher within the Department of Paediatric Dentistry, you will contribute to ongoing research projects in the field of oral health, with a particular focus on preventive strategies and treatment of paediatric patients. You will be involved in the design and execution of experimental and clinical studies, data collection and analysis, and the dissemination of research findings. The
research is embedded in a multidisciplinary setting, requiring close collaboration with clinicians, researchers, and other healthcare professionals. In addition, you will contribute to the development of new research proposals and support or lead grant applications to secure external funding. You will present your work at national and international conferences and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Your duties
During your time at ACTA, you will perform a combination of the following activities:
• design and conduct research within the field of paediatric dentistry, including
clinical and laboratory-based studies
• perform data collection, management, and quantitative analysis
• contribute to the development of research protocols and methodologies
• prepare scientific publications and present findings at national and
international conferences
• collaborate with clinicians and interdisciplinary research teams
• supervise undergraduate and master’s thesis projects
• contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications
• support ongoing research projects within the department
Your profile
For this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with:
• a PhD in oral health sciences, dentistry, biomedical sciences, or a related
field
• a strong interest in clinical and laboratory research in paediatric dentistry
• experience with research methodology and data analysis
• strong analytical and organisational skills
• the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

- a salary of minimum € 3.546,00 (Scale 10) and maximum € 5.538,00 (Scale 10) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Researcher 1. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
- a position for at least 0.3 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 2 year. The employment contract will be from May 2026 - April 2028.

- A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.

ACTA is a joint venture of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. ACTA conducts scientific research, provides education, and delivers patient care in the field of dentistry. Internationally, ACTA is a leading institution in both research and education. Approximately 550 staff members work at ACTA, and around 900 students are enrolled in the Dentistry programme. ACTA provides dental care to approximately 600 patients daily.
