Ca’ Foscari invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professorof General Sociology.
Ca’ Foscari is looking for an Assistant Professor of General Sociology capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world.
The selected candidate must meet the scientific research and teaching needs of the Department of Economics, with reference to the areas of General Sociology, Social Policies, Ageing Processes, and Public Policies for the Older Population, including from a global perspective.
Teaching and service to students
The position includes a teaching commitment of up to 90 hours within undergraduate and postgraduate curricular programmes, as well as teaching activities consistent with General Sociology, specifically: contemporary sociological theory, multilevel governance processes, empirical research with both qualitative and quantitative methodological skills.
The courses will be delivered primarily in Italian, although teaching in English may also be required.
Academic commitment:
The scientific activity of the researcher shall focus on the analysis of governance processes and public policies addressing the demographic challenge, demonstrating knowledge of local and national regulations concerning health promotion, prevention, and active ageing. The international dimension is especially relevant for these studies; therefore, it is desirable that the researcher already operates within study contexts on ageing in other countries and maintains relations with international organisations.
The selected candidate is expected to actively participate in the research activities in General Sociology within the Department and to play a role in seeking competitive funding and contributing to organisational tasks, including third-mission activities.
The researcher will be also involved in managerial and organizational matters of the Department. These administrative duties will be kept to a minimum during the first years.
The position will be in the Department of Economics, a centre that carries out innovative research in fields such as economics, finance, statistics and mathematics, covering all the legal, social, international, and environmental aspects of these disciplines.
The Department has received a “Department of Excellence” Award by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. The Excellence Award has allowed the department to receive additional state funding to develop innovative projects on Economic and Risk Analytics for public policies.
