The University of Amsterdam invites applications for a (Senior) Lecturer position in International Business. The successful candidate will work as a (Senior) Lecturer at the Strategy and International Business section of the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) within the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

We are looking for candidates with a clear teaching focus on international business in undergraduate and graduate programmes, and advanced qualitative and/or quantitative empirical skills. We expect the candidate to demonstrate familiarity with core international business theories and concepts (e.g., internationalization decisions, strategies to address cultural and institutional distance, entry mode choices, and management of global value chains).

The section is committed to providing high-quality education at all levels, from undergraduate (BSc) to PhD level and Executive education. The Strategy & International Business section is home to more than 30 distinguished faculty members and international business experts, from junior (tenure track) to leading senior researchers, as well as PhD candidates. The section is very collegial and diverse, its scholars come from 23 different nationalities, with wide range of backgrounds. Main duties and responsibilities:
- Teaching international business courses at the bachelor, master, and/or executive levels.
- Supervising bachelor and/or master thesis projects in international business and related areas.
- Possibly supporting the section and programme in administrative or service tasks (to be agreed upon).

We will prioritize candidates that hold a Ph.D. (completed or near completion, in Business Administration, Management, and similar) with more than two years of teaching in International Business topics at Dutch universities or abroad. However, we will also consider candidates with more than five years of teaching experience in higher education programs in related areas of business studies.
This is what we offer you
The contract is entered into for a period of one year with a probationary period of two months and, if the employee proves to be suitable and continues in the same position, under the same (financial and/or organizational) conditions, it can be converted into a permanent contract. The UFO profile lecture 3/2 applies to this position. This position is classified in scale 11 or 12. This means a gross monthly salary between €4,728 and € 7,297 for full-time employment (38 hours per week) excluding holiday allowance (8%) and year-end bonus (8.3%). The salary scale depends on competencies and work experience.
The ideal starting date is planned for 1 September 2026, but an earlier starting date is an option as the section is flexible in this respect. Depending on the candidate’s preferences, we can consider part-time appointments.
