As an International Student Advisor within the Degree Mobility Team, you will be in daily contact with incoming international students seeking admission to one of our English-taught Master's programmes. Your main task is to inform and advise the very culturally diverse target group of students throughout the entire process of application and admission.
Inform international students, mainly via email, telephone and education fairs
Provide information and advice on the range of programmes, admission requirements and studying at VU Amsterdam
Process the applications and the evaluation of foreign diplomas
Provide onsite support for students during the arrival and introduction weeks
Contribute to the development and overall improvement of the programmes and processes as well as to the pre-defined objectives of the team
Evaluate and analyse data from the programmes for which you are responsible
Contribute to a positive team spirit and an open work culture
Actively participate in various consultations within and outside of the department, as well as participation in various programmes and projects
Your profile
Your motivation and drive to contribute to good administrative processes to help students realise their educational dreams is at the top of the selection criteria for us. The job requirements are as follows:
completed education at college or university level
knowledge of the Dutch education system is a must: experience with internationalisation of higher education as well as affinity with international student mobility
experience with the evaluation of foreign diplomas is an advantage
fluency in Dutch (preferred) and English (is a must), both written and verbal
good communication skills, both written and verbal
a strong service-oriented and proactive attitude
intercultural sensitivity

What do we offer?

- a salary of minimum € 3.382,00 (Scale 8) and maximum € 4.484,00 (Scale 8) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Internationalisation Officer 3. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
- a position for at least 0.5 FTE. Your employment contract will last 6 months.

- A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. For part-timers, this is calculated pro rata.

About us
International Mobility
The International Mobility department is responsible for promoting international mobility of students and staff. The department consists of three teams and processes the central applications of international students in contract education diplomas, takes care of the credential evaluation of foreign certificates and processes the application for visas, residence permits and work permits for students and guests. In addition, International Mobility provides information to VU students about studying abroad, manages various funds and exchange programmes and supports the housing demand for foreign students and guests of VU Amsterdam.
Degree Mobility Team
The Degree Mobility team is responsible for the central information and selection of international students for the English-taught programmes of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In addition to assessing diplomas and handling admission requests, the team focuses on onboarding international students by introducing them to the Dutch educational culture, the VU community and their VU education during the first months of their stay in the Netherlands. VU Amsterdam strives to strengthen the connection between students and their study programme and to guarantee the quality and diversity of the intake. The Degree Mobility team consists of two sub-teams: Bachelor Admission and Master Admission.
Student & Educational Affairs
We at Student & Educational Affairs ensure that Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam works like a well-oiled machine. We assist in logistics and help with realising educational programmes; we also aim to create a worry-free and unforgettable university experience for our students. We support students from enrolment right through graduation. We help international students and researchers find their way around VU Amsterdam, for example by arranging housing and other needs. We also work closely with the faculties in developing educational policy and implementing educational improvements. We want students to learn, grow and have fun! That’s why we organise sport and cultural activities for everyone on campus and beyond.
