Your role
As a Junior Project Leader, you support the CDWS in the implementation and coordination of projects at the intersection of security, resilient society and social innovation. You work in a dynamic environment in which you build concrete social impact together with researchers and external partners. In this role you also ensure that activities, insights and stories of the CDWS are communicated consistently, clearly and attractively to various target groups.
You contribute to the overview of knowledge about defense and the resilient society within the VU and help to further develop the network of internal and external stakeholders. You create an overview of relevant financing options and prepare meetings with external stakeholders and take care of their follow-up. You organize events in collaboration with an event organizer. You also carry out account management for the CDWS and offer general administrative support.
Part of your work is developing, collecting, and editing content. You actively request input from researchers and colleagues and monitor the progress and quality of the content. You translate complex, often academic, insights into accessible and targeted communication and provide content for the newsletter, website, LinkedIn and individual communication, such as mailings or targeted updates. You ensure coherence and consistency in tone and message across the different channels.

Your responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the overview of knowledge about defense and resilient society within the VU & contribute to the network of internal and external stakeholders
- Overview of financing options
- Preparing meetings with external stakeholders and follow-up
- Organizing events
- Account management CDWS and other administrative support
- Developing, collecting and translating complex (academic) content into accessible and targeted communication for different communication channels and ensures coherence and consistency in tone and message across the different channels.
Your profile
You are a thoughtful and energetic junior project leader who understands complex environments. You know how to navigate political-administrative settings and enjoy working with diverse networks.
You bring:
- Affinity and / or experience with the themes of defense and resilient society
- Preferably experience in project support or stakeholder management
- Political-administrative sensitivity and a pro-active working attitude: you see what is needed and pick it up
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, such as the ability to write clearly (memos, proposals, summaries) in Dutch and English
- The talent to keep an overview while managing several files at the same time, monitoring deadlines and structured work;

- a salary of minimum € 3.382,00 (Scale 8) and maximum € 4.484,00 (Scale 8) gross per month, on a full-time basis. This is based on UFO profile Project Leader 3. The exact salary depends on your education and experience.
- a position for at least 0.6 FTE. Your employment contract will initially last 6 months. Afterwards, the possibility of expansion exists.
