About the Role
The School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences is seeking to appoint a Food Science and Technology Lecturer/Senior Lecturer on a six month fixed‑term contract, contributing to the design, delivery, and assessment of teaching across both our full‑time and apprenticeship programmes: BSc/FdSc Artisan Food Production and BSc Food Industry Technical Professional Degree Apprenticeship.
The successful applicant will have excellent knowledge of Food Science and Technology theory and practice, with expertise in one or more food‑related disciplines. These may include manufacturing and processing technologies, food chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, nutrition, food quality and safety, primary production, and supply chain management. Teaching responsibilities will be determined by the successful candidate’s experience and specialist knowledge, and no individual will be expected to cover all areas.

We incorporate work‑related learning opportunities and embed sustainable practices within the curriculum, as a result we value active, practice‑based,and collaborative approaches to teaching and learning that prepare students and apprentices to become reflective, capable practitioners.
You will play a key role in ensuring an excellent student experience and strong student outcomes across both the full‑time and apprenticeship provision. The post holder will be an effective communicator and a collaborative academic, able to work closely with colleagues across the department in an inclusive and supportive culture.
