Advanced Technical Lecturer - Engineering Principles, Modelling and Analysis

Newcastle College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Advanced Technical lecturer in the engineering department. In addition to the key responsibilities and duties of a lecturer, the Advanced Technical Lecturer will be able to effectively translate the technical requirements of the workplace into high quality, subject-specific delivery of mechanical principles, adeptness in engineering mathematics, proficiency in 3D modelling systems, and extensive experience in finite element analysis (FEA). And is expected to lead subject pedagogy in their discipline. Through their exceptional advanced ability and specific industry expertise, the post holder will have the responsibility to share the expert delivery of TLA in the subject to develop the skills of the broader delivery team in which they will work.

The main responsibilities of this role include the delivery and assessment of high quality learning programmes in engineering, across a range of levels of further education, higher education and / or apprenticeship provision, as well as undertaking a range of programme leadership, tutorial and programme administration duties.

This post requires a strong background in engineering principles and the candidate must have proven track record of professional / vocational expertise in the engineering sector.

The candidate must be qualified to honours degree level (Level 6) or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe.  It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in FE, HE and / or Apprenticeships and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice.

An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
