This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Southampton on a fixed-term contract as we invest further in our Future Ways of Working, recognising that our people are the core of our organisation. The University’s iSolutions team offers a wide range of technical IT support for people working and studying with us, and this is an opportunity to be involved in projects related to those services.
About the Role
The Future Ways of Working (FWoW) Programme has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic IT Technician and Trainer to work closely with the AV Support Team Manager and FWoW Project Manager as the University moves towards a hybrid working environment. Based as part of the iSolutions team, you’ll define and deliver support and training that will improve the development, delivery and sustainability of communications and collaboration platforms and hardware in line with the University’s strategy.
What you’ll do
- Provide expert advice on the use of the communication and collaboration platforms and hardware.
- Plan and assist in the development of training content for the platforms and hardware.
- Actively engage with staff discovering their communications and collaboration requirements.
- Develop solutions to users’ needs which require specialist application knowledge.
- Work with suppliers and integrators to maximise features and benefits of platforms and hardware

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to plan and manage your own workload.
- A proactive mindset towards dealing with complex challenges and conflict.
- Ability to assimilate information quickly to suggest and deliver improvements.
You will be a proactive problem solver who can manage multiple priorities to ensure that work is delivered on time to a high standard. You will be an engaged team member, but also able to work independently.
You will have a skill level (including experience and other qualifications) equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or degree. You will be professional, clear thinking and act as a role model within iSolutions.
