Associate Lecturer in English Language

The School of Humanities at the University of Worcester is home to a well-established English Language programme. Students can study the subject as a Joint Honours award in a range of flexible combinations with other subjects, such as Creative Writing, Media & Film Studies, and English Literature. The BA (Hons) English Language course is informed by current research activity: students study a diverse curriculum of traditional and contemporary linguistic and sociolinguistic approaches and, are supported to undertake independent research and work-based learning projects to benefit their career plans. 

The School seeks to appoint new Associate Lecturers in English Language in order to complement the permanent team, with specialist expertise in one or more of the following: 

  • Linguistic and sociolinguistic critical approaches and research methods; 
  • Language and power; 
  • Language style and identity;
  • World Englishes.
  • The new Associate Lecturers will work within a team to deliver high-quality teaching and assessment and will support students’ acquisition of transferable and employability skills at first degree level. You will be expected to teach a range of critical approaches to linguistic study as well as underpinning this with practical research and writing skills. 

    NB. If you are successful at interview, you will be invited to join a pool of sessional lecturers and we will contact you if suitable work becomes available. We are not able to guarantee employment as it will be subject to student numbers. The number of hours available might only be a few hours per week.
