Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in English Literature

About the role

We are seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in English Literature, primarily to teach undergraduate modules covering literatures in English of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries They will also be required to give one-to-one tutorials to undergraduate students; to undertake the normal duties of teaching administration; and to attend departmental meetings. The person appointed will also be expected to participate in the interviewing of UCAS applicants and marking of interview candidates’ written work.

About you

Applicants must have a doctorate in English Literature and proven ability in teaching literature in English from the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. A knowledge of classical texts in relation to English literature is essential. Applicants must also have experience in teaching one-to-one tutorials, entailing not only the development of learning, but also monitoring student progress, achievement and attendance and the provision of pastoral care and support.
