College Lecturer / Lighting Technology Course Tutor who will support training students for the live events industry that has previous professional experience of entertainment technology and production and experience in either Entertainment Lighting Programming and/or Entertainment Lighting Control Systems is required for a well-respected Academy based in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire.

Full-Time and Part-Time Applications Considered

SALARY: £35,000 - £50,000 FTE (dependent on experience) + Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: South Kirkby, West Yorkshire

JOB TYPE: This vacancy is open to both Full-Time and Part-Time applications

WORKING HOURS: 08:30 - 17:30 Monday-Friday

(Occasional weekend and evening work will be required with time off in lieu)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a College Lecturer / Lighting Technology Course Tutor who is enthusiastic with a can do attitude and a highly creative and innovative approach to educating the next generation of live event professionals.

Working as a College Lecturer / Lighting Technology Course Tutor you will hold established profiles in Lighting Technology and will be required to undertake teaching delivery and assessments across the Academys courses, delivering both theoretical and practical sessions to learners.

As a College Lecturer / Lighting Technology Course Tutor you would be expected to engage with enterprise activity, as well as engaging in your own research and scholarly activity. You will also be expected to contribute to engagement with schools, colleges and recruitment activities.

DUTIES

Your duties as a College Lecturer / Lighting Technology Course Tutor will include:

  • Develop a standing as a scholar and /or practitioner in your field
  • Work with Professional bodies or relevant industry contacts to develop student or educational opportunities for the course
  • Engage in subject professional and pedagogy research
  • Ensure that outcomes of scholarly activity are appropriately disseminated
  • Develop and maintain links with industry and other partners
  • Design, delivery and teach of classes, projects, and other learning activities within the framework of the courses
  • Deliver classes in both practice and theory to students
  • Provision of academic and personal tutorial guidance and support to students
  • Responsibility for planning and supervision of students work in projects and assignments
  • Assessment and examination of students

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional experience of Entertainment Technology & Production
  • A primary specialism and demonstratable experience in at one of the following areas within Production for the stage and/or screen: Entertainment Lighting Programming or Entertainment Lighting Control Systems
  • Familiarity with contemporary live event performance and production and their cultural, social and industry contexts
  • A research interest in live events, and related practices and technologies
  • A range of skills in teaching, presentation, and the operational management of learning
  • Commitment to pastoral and academic support of students
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in changing circumstances
  • Ability to network with others, including negotiating with a variety of partner individuals and organisations
  • A degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline or a willingness to undertake such a qualification within two years
  • Post Graduate Teaching qualification (PGCHE) or HEA fellowship (FHEA) or a willingness to undertake such a qualification within two years
  • Existing and up to date DBS assessment or willingness to undertake one if successful
  • Recent experience of working in the Live Events or Broadcast Industries

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of teaching at post-compulsory or undergraduate level
  • Familiarity with developments in learning and teaching in vocational higher education
  • Familiarity with international and alternative developments in live event production
  • A secondary specialism in Pre-Visualisation and Computer Aided Design, Networking and Show Control Systems, 3.Lighting Design, LED Wall Systems & video control systems or Moving Light Maintenance
