At GOURMEY, you will report Théo MATHIEU, our Data Engineer.

What will you be doing?

As a Bioinformatician Intern, you will play a pivotal role in creating and optimizing biological data pipeline and bioinformatics tools for Gourmates:
  • Data pipeline development and optimization: You'll be involved in writing data automation scripts (Python, Bash, …) and workflow automation for all the lab operations at Gourmey. 
  • Preliminary statistical analysis: You will participate in the R&D by helping biologists make data driven decisions. 
  • Prototype informatics tools: You'll be supporting R&D, scale-up, and manufacturing teams with automating data-intensive tasks and tools development.
  • Propose new informatics tools and data approach: You'll participate to make proof of concept, by applying the latest informatics and modeling discovery into our industry. 
  • Communicate and educate: You'll work with non informatics educated Gourmate, they may not be informed on the possibility you can offer them with your informatics skills.

What about you?

  • Currently enrolled in a final year of a M.Sc. degree or engineering school in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Physics, Computational Chemistry/Biology.
  • Ready to embark on a minimum 6-month internship with us.
  • Basic knowledge of biology, cell biology, and/or metabolism. Experience with bioinformatics or biophysical modelling is a must.
  • Ability to collaborate with non-informatics people on transversal projects. Wet lab/Laboratory experience is a plus. 
  • Fully proficient in Python and experience in R, SQL, Bash, Flask (or other web app framework) is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in using Git, GitHub and SCRUM methodology, and cloud based architecture.
  • Comfortable using online collaborative tools (Google Docs / Slack / Zoom, Notion etc.)
  • Passionate about GOURMEY’s mission to bring to market delicious and sustainable foods through innovation
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken. We are a highly international team, so there is no need to speak French!
