The Bioinformatics Core Facility at the University Basel is seeking a Ph.D. level bioinformatician. The facility is a centralized resource of expertise for the analysis and visualization of large-scale biological datasets, available to  researchers at the Department of Biomedicine (DBM) and the Biozentrum (BZ).

The position is initially limited to 3 years and it is available immediately or upon agreement.

Your assignments

  • Consultancy in the design of high-throughput experiments
  • Computational analysis of -omics experiments, including expression studies (“bulk” and single-cell RNA-seq) and gene regulation studies (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA variants calling), long reads sequencing, proteomics and spatial transcriptomics
  • Set up robust and reproducible workflows to standardize analyses
  • Integration of multi-omics datasets
  • Teaching and training
  • Help with data interpretation and contribution to manuscript writing

Your profile

  • Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as computational biology, statistics, physics, or mathematics with strong interest in biology
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing genomics or other high-throughput biological datasets
  • Experience with analysis of proteomics  or spatial transcriptomics experiments is a plus
  • sound statistical knowledge and fluent programming skills using R/Bioconductor and/or Python are essential
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration and communication skills
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
