Applications are invited for the post of Climax Research Professor of Regulatory Science. This post is hosted by the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Science (NDORMS) which provides a vibrant multidisciplinary environment for the development of therapeutics across a broad range of therapeutic areas, including but not limited to those in musculoskeletal and inflammatory sciences. You will be based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.

As a Climax Research Professor of Regulatory Science you will be leading an international and multi-jurisdictional regulatory science activity, undertaking original work independently and in collaboration with others. You will interact and influence global regulatory community to drive the development of regulatory frameworks and pathways for the benefit of patients. You will work to secure research grants and funding as well as share research findings by means of high profile publications, conferences and seminars. You will provide effective management and leadership, and contribution to departmental, divisional and central University governance as required. You will inspire a new generation of researchers in the field through conducting teaching, lectures and project supervision.

The candidate for this leadership position should be an internationally recognised authority who has practical experience in the regulation of medical and healthcare products; qualified in a relevant legal, scientific or biomedical discipline, with substantial legal/regulatory practice experience.
You will be able to demonstrate evidence of distinction in thought leadership in regulatory science with evidence of effective communication of those ideas. A track record of effective engagement with regulatory agencies with evidence of promoting innovation in regulatory pathways, commitment to the development of the field through education and proven ability to develop productive interactions and relationships with other professionals, with industry and charities both at national and international level are essential.

This is a full-time, fixed-term (5 years extendable for a further 5 years) appointment.
