The post holder will work under the supervision of Prof James Chalmers, to provide research support for the respiratory research group at the School of Medicine.

The Respiratory Research Group is a multidisciplinary team conducting clinical and translational research into important lung conditions such as bronchiectasis, COPD, and other chronic respiratory diseases. The team consists of clinicians, immunologists, microbiologists, cell biologists, nurses, other allied health professionals and project managers.

The postholder will join a friendly, dynamic and successful research team, providing research support to clinical studies and trials.

Your priorities will include:

  • Provide effective and efficient research support to the respiratory research group
  • Assist in the identification, screening and recruitment of eligible patients to studies
  • Produce, collate and record accurate data on behalf of our research studies
  • Perform clinical and physiological measurements on research participants as appropriate, examples of which may include vital signs, height and weight, venepuncture and spirometry
  • Obtain and process biological samples, such as blood and respiratory samples
  • Data entry on research databases and Electronic Data Capture systems
  • Assist in the review of research protocols, procedures and study files, contributing to their development where appropriate

Who we're looking for:

  • Educated degree level in a science or health relates subject
  • Experience of clinical research
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Methodical and meticulous approach to data collection and documentation
