Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is a five-force collaboration delivering Counter Terrorism (CT) services to our regional forces as well as forming part of the national CT Network. CTPNW's mission is to work together to keep people safe from terrorism.

We are looking for a committed and outstanding individual who can support CTPNW in achieving its mission.

Applications are invited for the post of CTPNW Intelligence Researcher, within the Intelligence Management Unit based at Hutton Headquarters.

The purpose of this role is to support the Intelligence Analysts in identifying long term strategic and emerging issues for the region. To provide short-term tactical support for the CTPNW. To gather, develop, evaluate and present a variety of data and information. and to assist the preparation of analytical products.

If you are successful in applying for a police staff post, you will take up a contract of employment with Lancashire Constabulary and then be seconded to CTPNW c/o GMP and you will be located at Lancashire Constabulary.

UK Nationality

You must be a UK National to work for CTPNW. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearance. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and therefore will not be able to perform their duties.

Vetting Requirements

This is a designated post under the Force Vetting Strategy and the post will therefore applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) level before taking up the post.

For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Please note for applications which carry enhanced vetting you should have resided in the UK for the last 5/10 years.

Please see attached Job Description for further duties and responsibilities of this post. For specialist police posts, eligible candidates will:

  • have completed their probation at the closing date;
  • be confirmed in the rank of the vacancy;
  • not previously been unsuccessful at an assessment or interview for the same post within the last six months;
  • have no outstanding disciplines (not including complaints).
  • have completed the minimum tenure in your current post (if specialist post)
As at 1st April 2022, the HR Secondment Model was implemented for all posts at CTPNW. This means that all officer and staff posts that are based in Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire or Merseyside, are seconded to CTPNW c/o Greater Manchester Police.

If you are successful in applying for a police staff post and are a member of police staff at a police force currently that is different to Lancashire Constabulary, you will be required to resign from your current force and take up a contract of employment with Lancashire Constabulary. You will then be seconded from Lancashire Constabulary to CTPNW c/o GMP.
