Duties:

  • Classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and student placements.
  • All associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking and appropriate student welfare and academic counselling responsibilities.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor to students as required and undertaking all of the associated duties including pastoral care support. 
  • Make a full contribution to the team approach to learning and teaching.
  • Implement a student-centred negotiated learning programme in accordance with the College’s curriculum framework.
  • Implement agreed induction procedures and processes for students.
  • Ensure that students are informed of what is expected of them at every stage of their programme and that an awareness of what the programme involves is a feature of all reviews undertaken with students.
  • Ensure that appropriate assignments, tasks and activities are regularly set and assessed and that feedback is given to students in ways that will allow them to develop and achieve progression.
  • Contribute to the organisation of and ensure that there are appropriate work placements.

Skills/Experience:


  • Adaptable and flexible in approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within a busy environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE Grade 4/C in English & Maths.
  • Level 3 qualification in relevant area of expertise (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe).
  • Level 5 Teaching qualification (or commitment to achieving this in the required timeframe).

  • Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge.
  • Good working knowledge of IT tools.
  • Adaptable and flexible in approach.
  • Excellent knowledge of recent initiatives in curriculum development and design.
