- English within Essential Skills Team 37 hours per week The Adult Education Service is positioned in the Employment, Skills & Adult Education team within the Council’s Regeneration and Economy Directorate.

The strategic intent of the service is to maximise the employability of adults, so they can progress into work, further learning/training, or engage in voluntary, social and community activities.

The Service is recruiting a tutor with relevant skills, knowledge and experience in a particular subject area to design, plan, deliver and report on high quality adult learning programmes.

These will include (non)accredited courses taught online and/or face-to-face in a range of community settings within the city.

Provision will be delivered during the daytime, evening and at weekends, throughout the year, to meet identified needs.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

For this role you will have an up to date knowledge of curriculum practice and issues, and relevant teaching experience within a community-based adult education context.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to deliver an (in)formal, culturally competent, and inclusive curriculum to raise aspirations and make a difference to residents from diverse backgrounds within the city.

You will have experience of setting individual targets and evaluating learner progress and achievements through both accredited and non-accredited provision.

You must evidence a good understanding of equity and inclusion, safeguarding and Prevent and be proactive in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a range of audiences and have the skills to promote Adult Education provision using a range of methods, including social media.

You should have English and Maths qualification at Level 2, a teaching qualification at Level 3.

A subject specification qualification at Level 4 or equivalent is also desirable.

The ability and willingness to teach in a range of venues within in the city, and throughout the year, is important.
