Publicerad 2024-11-18

At South Staffordshire College our aim is to help our learners realise their potential, focusing on careers not courses. We pride ourselves on developing the skills and knowledge that young people and adults need to succeed in the world of work.

We specialise in English and Maths retake opportunities (GCSE and Functional Skills) for young people, as part of their study programme, as well as adult learners through part-time (day/evening) and online provision.

We are looking for an outstanding Teacher of English with a track record of success, and with passion, enthusiasm and flair to join our progressive and forward-thinking team.

The successful applicant(s) will have a related degree, a full teaching qualification (PGCE or DTTLS) together with experience of teaching in either the FE or Schools' sector. Newly Qualified Teachers are welcome to apply for the post.

The successful candidate will have experience of GCSE delivery and be responsible for creating and delivering, an inspiring and carefully sequenced curriculum to 16-18 and adult groups which could be across a range of our campuses and during daytime and evening hours.

The successful candidate should be confident and able to implement up to date teaching and learning pedagogy, both within the classroom and through online learning mediums. The individual should have the vision and capability to adapt the curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment to suit the needs of our diverse range of learners, from different vocational backgrounds and support needs, ensuring progress is made.

In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with their English and maths coordinator, as well as Head of English and maths, to ensure the department continues to move forward in this exiting curriculum area.

What you can expect from us - We care about your wellbeing so have a number of activities all year that provide support. However, time off is also important. We have a generous holiday scheme, the usual Bank Holidays, an additional 5 days at Christmas and 2 'ME' days (where you can have a day off work and do whatever makes you happy) as well as an additional day on campus spent on wellbeing.

We have a range of benefits available to all staff including paid time off for emergencies (designed to support carers) and all our policies are enhanced further than statutory requirements. The College also contributes to your pension at a minimum of 22.9% (we contribute more for people in the Local Government Pension Scheme).

South Staffordshire College is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community. We are actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone covering all the protected characteristics in particular people of different ages/ethnicity/race.

We are committed to PREVENT and safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young adults and expect all staff to share this commitment.

This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure with child and barred list check.
