Our Health Research Assistants have a unique position taking our participants through their journey whilst they visit our Imaging centre in Bristol.  Our participants volunteer their time to join us for their appointment and are all deemed fit and well, there is no personal care involved in this role.

Overview of the role

This position would ideally suit someone with great customer service skills, with a passion for working with people with a background in clinical/health care. 

The working pattern for this role, and the salary, is based on 36 hours per week (3 x 12 hour shifts) over Monday to Sunday, 07:30 - 20:30.  

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure participant welfare throughout their visit with good level of quality care
  • Ensure participant’s details are correctly identified prior to the examination 
  • Maintain the confidentiality of volunteers and staff 
  • Obtain blood samples via Venepuncture (training provided)
  • Conduct physical measures to collect data from the participant 
  • Conduct study interviews with participants to obtain health information
  • Processing biological samples with the bloods processing room 
  • Liaise with the co-ordinating site laboratory 
  • Update co-ordinating site laboratory with any issues that have arisen
  • Ensure samples are kept within designated temperatures
  • Ensure all equipment is operating as it should and escalating any issues
  • Ensure all tasks are completed for the smooth running of the day
  • Maintain cleanliness of imaging centre
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues based at site and with those at the coordinating laboratory using verbal, written and digital platforms

About you

Essential
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and are able to clearly explain procedures and instructions to participants
  • Passionate about delivering excellent person-centred customer service
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, Word and Excel or equivalent)
  • Exhibit attention to detail with a specific focus on quality
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads
  • Willingness to learn additional skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a supportive member of the team
  • Experience working within an healthcare environment
