We are looking to recruit an Intelligence Researchers to join our Intelligence Unit. This is a 12-month maternity cover. The role will be a hybrid model based in our Birmingham office at The Cube.

The Intelligence Unit

The Intelligence Unit provides a vital function to our organisation.

The primary purpose of the Unit is to gather, record, assess, develop and disseminate intelligence received from a wide variety of sources in connection with the activities of the profession.

The Unit retains all intelligence it receives and assesses the credibility, usefulness and importance, before disseminating it internally or externally to partner agencies. The team operates in accordance with the National Intelligence Model (NIM).

The Role

Intelligence Researchers form part of the wider team, along with Intelligence Officers and a Senior Legal & Technical Advisor.

Reporting to an Intelligence Officer, you will:

  • Receive new intelligence reports, record intelligence and prepare accurate research reports
  • Support and assist colleagues across the team as well as other areas of the business
  • Assist with interaction with other regulators, law enforcement and other agencies, and the public and profession
  • The work of an Intelligence Researcher helps investigations into regulated individuals and firms, and assists the work of both internal and external stakeholders. Such investigations often involve serious regulatory breaches and allegations of criminality involving fraud and money laundering.

    What we are looking for

  • A relevant Degree or equivalent qualification, or previous experience of working within a research or intelligence environment
  • A good understanding of intelligence work, and of how the intelligence function informs and supports the work of the SRA
  • Capability to work individually and within a team, prioritising workloads based on complexity and demands
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Capability to relay complex information in a clear and succinct manner.
  • The successful applicant must either already have, or be prepared to go through, Security Check (SC) vetting.
