Junior Design Researcher

Purpose

Ensure the work we create is grounded in a deep and contextual understanding of what matters to the people we are designing for.

Orientation

Work with team leadership in defining the research track of work; assisting with the clear articulation of research objectives and approaches; supporting the team in executing primary research and testing; developing research materials and key research deliverables.

Experience

You will likely have relevant experience from a previous role including demonstrable experience of design research experience and participating in all aspects of design research and user testing (planning, executing, analysis, synthesis, deliverable creation).

Whilst you’ll will be employed by TMWX part of TMW Unlimited (an affiliate of Accenture Song), you’ll be working day-to-day as part of Accenture Song's DDP (Design & Digital Products) team.

Requirements

Requirements:

Personal

·         Understand and support Design Research as a discipline and a practice.

·         Support and deliver design research activities including research planning, fieldwork execution, analysis, synthesis, research storytelling and deliverables.

·         Contribute to communication across disciplines at the project level to create alignment and efficiencies.

Craft

·         Conduct research planning, execution and analysis.

·         Define research and test plans based on relevant research and business objectives utilising suitable methods and techniques.

·         Deliver qualitative research spanning ethnographic research, concept and usability testing.

·         Facilitate user testing/usability testing throughout the design process.

·         Be familiar with aspects of PI data management. Ensuring data is managed in line with Accenture policies, GDPR and other country-specific legal requirements.

 

Project

·         Create design research deliverables at a project level.

·         Support in design research plans on projects.

·         Actively collaborate with teammates on research activities.

·         Comfortable with hybrid working. Every project is different, but we love our team to be in the studio and in our client’s office to work collaboratively.

 

Client

·         We work with a wide variety of clients, across different industries and sectors, however we’re currently looking for researchers to work specifically on several health and government projects.

·         Participate in stakeholder interviews and other design research client engagement activities, including usability testing; align with design research objectives.

·         Create quality client deliverables and outcomes.

·         Support new business development efforts by identifying insights and inputting in pitch efforts and client meetings.

 

Community

·         Support and input into design research activities at a project level.

·         Attend and help in the planning of studio and community events and workshops.

 

Skillset

·         History of delivering research and testing activities to help solve complex design research challenges.

·         Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners.

·         Experience conceptualizing and delivering design research from start to finish.

·         Proven history of delivering results on time and within budget.

·         Comfort with ambiguity yet unstoppable drive to create order out of chaos.

·         Strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

·         Working knowledge of design research: recruiting processes; scheduling and logistics; protocol development; interviewing and moderating; analysis and framework development; video compilations; research deliverables.

·         Proven collaborative and teamwork skills.
