Vacancy: Lead Researcher (Scientist)

As the Lead Researcher you will work on testing catalysts/absorbents, assisting manufacturing plants and analysing returned customer samples to support existing and new products. You will produce and interpret relevant testing results on one or more test rigs and make recommendations and proposals for further work.
You will support manufacturing plants and validate the performance of trial materials on the test unit, whilst also perform the analysis of returned customer samples and produce high-quality customer reports.
You will have an innovative mindset, looking for new approaches to improve our product offerings. While working as part of a team to support projects and delivery, you will have your own project responsibilities which you will be expected to drive for success.

Your responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for safe operation of absorbent and catalyst testing facilities. Ensures compliance to EHS and quality standards and actively identifies opportunities for improvements while maintaining and improving housekeeping standards
  • Contributes to the successful delivery of NPI projects via testing of samples, collation of testing and characterisation results and generation of insights
  • Supports manufacturing plants and validates trial materials via testing and characterisation
  • Performs analysis of returned customer samples to understand the catalyst/absorbent performance and gain insights
  • Develops and implements ideas in various project areas to improve and innovate
  • Works independently to produce analysis and insights drawn from results, using theoretical proficiency and experience to spot trends and recommends improvements/forward plans which contribute to program development
  • Operates as responsible person for test rigs and laboratories
  • Routinely compiles research reports to summarise scientific progress/understanding and communicates information internally to senior colleagues across functions
  • Proactively seeks to develop technical expertise in purification science and analytical methodology. Regularly accesses scientific literature to increase understanding

Requirements for the role:
  • Degree qualified (Chemistry related discipline).
  • Experience of working in a laboratory
  • Experience of catalyst testing and related analytical techniques (Desirable)
