We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Aviation, Travel & Tourism to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £28,372- £39,198 per annum. While this role is advertised as full-time, we are open to considering part-time applications for the right candidate.

About the role:

As the Lecturer in Aviation, Travel & Tourism, you will deliver high-quality and effective teaching and learning to Bournemouth and Poole College students from Level 1-3 Aviation, Travel & Tourism. The post holder will also act as a personal tutor to students.

Based at our Bournemouth Campus, this department comprises of five areas: Tourism, Sport, Uniformed Public Services, Business, Leadership and Management. It provides a wide variety of courses from level 1 to 3 for 16-18 and adult students.

This is a thriving and growing department and, for the successful candidate, that is an exciting opportunity to join a team of expert practitioners and teachers who are passionate about developing their students.

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Aviation, Travel & Tourism will include:

  • Contributing to the development and delivery of all our Aviation, Travel & Tourism courses
  • Contributing to high-quality learning experiences using a variety of teaching and learning methods based on current best available practice
  • Creating an outstanding student experience which leads to progression or employment
  • Providing academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Participating in the College's appraisal process and to undertake any training that may be appropriate
  • Scheduled teaching, student assignments and tutorials
  • Distance learning support for groups of students
  • Preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans and assignment schedules
  • Preparation of learning materials and student assignments

As our Lecturer in Aviation, Travel & Tourism, you'll ideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths Teaching Qualification or willingness to achieve within 2 years.
  • Graduate in relevant subject area.
  • Minimum Level 3 or Graduate in the relevant subject area, such as L3 BTEC Travel & Tourism
  • Vocational expertise within the Travel & Tourism and Aviation Industry, including Air Cabin Crew.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including word, excel, powerpoint.
  • Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
