Lecturer in EAP Education and Pre-sessional & Short Courses Assistant Coordinator - INTERNAL ONLY - Strand, London, WC2R 2LS

THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO KING’S FOUNDATIONS INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

About us

King’s Foundations is a department situated within King’s College London that provides high-quality international pathway, academic skills and English language preparation courses for King\\\'s students.  We are a welcoming, collegiate and ambitious department made up of highly experienced academic, teaching and professional services colleagues dedicated to enabling and empowering students to be the best they can be as part of a world-leading university.

About the role

This opportunity is only available to King’s Foundations staff.

This is an exciting opportunity for two experienced EAP tutors to join the Pre-sessional and Short Courses team during the summer months as Assistant Coordinator. The role-holders will teach full-time on the King’s International Foundation programme during the academic year but take a coordination role during the Pre-sessional. The position is ideal for someone looking to develop their leadership and mentoring skills, while retaining a substantial teaching role during the year.

The role-holders will lead a team of teachers during the Pre-sessional, as well as delivering lectures and induction sessions and providing occasional cover for teaching when required. They will support the Pre-sessional Coordinators in different aspects of programme delivery and are also likely to be involved in Pre-sessional programme developments during term 2.

The successful candidates will be highly organised, collaborative, have good communication skills and will use their prior EAP experience to support tutors and make innovative contributions to quality teaching and learning. They will be flexible, solution-focused and able to thrive in a fast-moving and sometimes unpredictable environment.

The successful candidates will join the Pre-sessional Team full-time at the start of the 11-week stage of the programme, once all KIF assessment marking is complete. There will be the opportunity to take a week’s leave during the 11-week stage of the programme.

The position is offered on an academic (AEP) contract, reflecting the nature of the role and providing a platform for excellence.

For your application please only address criteria 4, 5 and 7 in your personal statement. Other criteria will be assessed at interview.

This is a full time position, and you will be offered a fixed term contract until September 2027.
