This is a unique opportunity to join the Northern Film School and Creative Technologies at Leeds Beckett University. We are one of the best-known film and television schools in the UK, recognised by the Hollywood Reporter as one of the top 10 film schools in the world to watch. The Northern Film School has made innovative and award-winning films for over 25 years, offering a breadth of practice-based filmmaking courses at BA (Hons), MA and PhD levels, attracting students from around the world. Creative Technologies and the world of Games offers the Northern Film School a dynamic contemporary and developing arm to its established portfolio.

The Northern Film School is now at the centre of the newly established Leeds School of Arts housed in Leeds Beckett University’s brand-new flagship building in the heart of the city centre, boasting industry specified resources and a vibrant hub of ambitious talent in practiced based, creative industry courses.

The increasing significance of the ‘North’ in the Creative Industries, in particular, Yorkshire and the Humber, is more visible than ever, with Channel 4 locating its National HQ in Leeds and the development of a strong and fast-growing production sector in cities across the North of England. Leeds has been recognised nationally as a thriving digital creative hub with significant growth in Games industries. It has become an exciting, cultural city for students and, importantly, graduates and is well placed for students who understand the increasing significance of the role of visual storytelling and want to contribute to this growing community and beyond.

In this buoyant time for the digital creative industries we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Games and Digital Arts.

Key role requirements include expertise in 3D modelling (Max/Blender/ZBrush), 3D texturing tools and shader workflows. Expertise in optimising and deploying 3D assets for real-time engines (Unity & Unreal), including best practice knowledge of polygon reduction and topology optimisation.

You will have a strong background in concept art and understanding of lighting, colour theory and visual story telling in game media.  You will be expected to contribute to the vocational support of student year groups through delivery of modules at all levels, and engaging in the development of practice within course teams.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to engage and inspire students is essential, together with a flexible and collaborative approach to working within a teaching team.
