£33,000- £41,108 FTE + potential market supplement DOE

Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Media to deliver high-quality teaching across the UAL Media qualifications (Level 2 & 3) and the T-Level Media qualification. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of excellent teaching experience and practical expertise in media production to effectively support students in both theoretical and hands-on learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective teaching across UAL Level 2 & 3 Media and T-Level Media courses.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that develop students' theoretical understanding and practical skills in media production.
  • Provide high-quality teaching that meets awarding body requirements and enhances student progression.
  • Assess student work effectively, ensuring feedback is constructive, developmental, and aligned with course criteria.
  • Support students in developing industry-relevant skills, including video production, editing, sound design, photography, digital content creation, and media analysis.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure teaching remains relevant and forward-thinking.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
  • Contribute to the wider department and college activities, including enrichment, open days, and employer engagement opportunities.
  • Ensure that health and safety practices within practical media sessions are upheld.


Criteria

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience of delivering high-quality teaching at Level 2 and Level 3 in Media-related qualifications.
  • Strong practical skills in media production, including proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition.
  • Demonstrable ability to engage and inspire students through innovative teaching strategies and practical projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of contemporary media industries, including film, TV, digital content creation, and journalism.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, assess, and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the development of an outstanding Media curriculum.
  • Passion for supporting student progression and preparing learners for further study or employment in the media industry.
