Job summary

You will be involved in supporting the delivery of our degree apprenticeship provision based in Sheffield working on the Occupational Therapy courses and inter-professional portfolio. You will support teaching and learning across a range of modules, assessment, and feedback, supporting students academic and practice learning progression. As a Lecturer, youll have the ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of backgrounds and you will work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.

Job responsibilities

In this role, you will be involved in supporting the delivery of our degree apprenticeship provision based in Sheffield and with occasional travel to the North West (Manchester) working on the Occupational Therapy course and inter-professional portfolio.

As a Lecturer, you will be able to inspire our students and make a valuable contribution to their learning experience, whilst preparing them for contemporary occupational therapy practice.

You must be an HCPC-registered occupational therapist and have well-developed and current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical, and theoretical issues relevant to contemporary practice.

Ideally, youll be at the forefront of new ways of working in the NHS, in either primary or secondary settings, demonstrating care innovation and emergent management pathways. We have a team of lecturers to deliver our apprenticeship provision, and it would be envisaged that you would be part of this innovation, contributing to occupational therapy education in higher education, whilst retaining strong links with employers and practice partners.

The Degree Apprenticeship programme is delivered in weekly blocks interspersed throughout the year encompassing hybrid delivery made up of 2 days on-site and 3 days online.

Our main base is at Sheffield Hallam University where hybrid working is our normal practice (online or on-campus) and with occasional travel to the North West (approximately 2 days per month).

The role also requires you to contribute to our pre-registration apprenticeship course through teaching, assessing, academic advising and academic citizenship.

The ability to inspire, enthuse and connect with a range of backgrounds is required. You will support students academic, and placement learning progression and work collaboratively to enhance the student experience.

The School of Health and Social Careis one of the UKs leading teaching centres of pre-registration health education and one of the first universities to offer Allied Health Professions Degree Apprenticeship Courses. We are growing our occupational therapy team due to continued expansion of our teaching portfolio.

Our teaching team has a range of expertise in all areas of occupational therapy and is responsible for a distinctive and high-quality education portfolio which includes the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, BSc Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship, MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) and MSc Advanced Practice in Sensory Integration. In addition, the team contributes to cross-department and cross-College teaching including inter-professional education provision and CPD provision.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good occupational therapy honours degree ( UK or
  • 1st Class), or equivalent professional qualification or
  • experience in a relevant discipline
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification OR a commitment to
  • complete one.
  • HCPC Registration
  • Postgraduate teaching qualification (PG Cert or HEA
  • fellowship) or a commitment to complete PG Cert
  • Teaching in Higher Education
  • Desirable

  • Evidence of post-registration professional development in
  • occupational therapy at MSc level
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Teaching, training, and supervising students and peers
  • Well-developed current understanding of practical and
  • theoretical issues in contemporary occupational therapy
  • practice.
  • Experience in a range of clinical environments and
  • occupational therapy roles with evidence of highly
  • developed specialised knowledge in at least one of these
  • areas.
  • Knowledge of current developments within the profession,
  • NHS care, HEE, and Higher Education.
