The role

The Department of Theatre is seeking to appoint a full-time PW3 Lecturer (Teaching) to cover a period of maternity leave from 1 January 2025 through 30 September 2025. The post will include teaching and marking across the UG and MA programmes in the Spring and Summer teaching blocks, including delivering workshops, seminars and supervisions of group and individual projects.

The Department has an excellent reputation, is thriving, fast-growing, highly creative and has a very strong teaching and research ethos. It is located in the Wickham Building, which boasts two flexible, well-equipped studio theatres, rehearsal rooms, design and costume workshops, and lecture and seminar rooms. We share the building with the Theatre Collection, a designated museum and archive of theatre and performance with over 140 named collections and archives. Staff in the Department have expertise in an array of genres, histories, and practices, including theatre history, historic and contemporary performance practices, audience studies, performance studies, immersive arts and creative technologies.


What will you be doing?

You will contribute to the Department’s teaching at all levels, contributing to courses such as: Politics of Performance, Independent Study: Performance Project; Professional Development for Theatre Choreography for Theatre and/or Applied Theatre.


You should apply if

You have a PhD in Theatre or a related field and have experience in teaching theatre in both seminar and rehearsal rooms in the HE sector. You are an excellent communicator and a collaborative team player.
