Lecturer of Biology
Here at Brockenhurst College, we are looking to recruit a Lecturer of Biology on a full-time, permanent basis (0.8 – 1.0 FTE). In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £31,000 to £41,217.00 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £24,547 to £31,000 pro rata per annum.)
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.
The Role:
As our Lecturer of Biology, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching.
Responsibilities as our Lecturer of Biology will include:
- Teach on courses as agreed with the Head of Curriculum
- Act as Course Leader, when requested
- Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records, IV and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate
- Work closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students
- Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning
- Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum including blended learning approaches
- Contribute to the teaching/learning resource bank including e resources for the relevant subject/courses.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course
- Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course and represent the College at relevant meetings
- Organise and participate in relevant visits, field trips etc.
- Attend and contribute to relevant meetings, including Enrolment/Open Events and Parents' Evening, as appropriate
- Advise and assist the Head of Curriculum and other team members in all matters related to the delivery of subject specialisms
- Act as Lead IV, when requested
As our Lecturer of Biology, you'll ideally have:
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification in relevant subject area to include Biology and Medical Science
- Excellent teaching skills
- The ability to manage learners and learning effectively
- The ability to develop effective learning resources
- Knowledge and understanding of current developments in Biology A level
- The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities and to assess learner needs
- Good administrative and organisational skills
- Effective communication skills
- The ability to meet tight deadlines and handle pressure and a range of demands
