About the Role:

You will join our School of Life Sciences, working with academics teaching and conducting world-class research in Forensic Science, Crime and Investigative Science, Biomedical Science, and Animal and Environmental Biology, based in our Faculty of Science and Engineering. You should have a postgraduate qualification in crime scene investigation, or a related discipline and have a good understanding of practice within the criminal justice system, as well as knowledge of quality systems such as ISO accreditation within the forensic field, particularly with ISO. Alternatively, you might be a police officer with significant experience in criminal investigations, crime scene investigation/management. Authentic practitioner experience in your area of expertise is essential. Appointment as senior lecturer practitioner would be commensurate with extensive experience and dependent on your current seniority.

Teaching or training experience within your professional area would be required and providing authentic practitioner-based teaching will be essential for this position. You will possess excellent communication skills and will demonstrate a flexible approach to work. We welcome applications from candidates who in particular, can contribute to teaching in areas relevant to Forensic and Investigative Studies such as evidence-based policing, major investigations theory and scene management, UK legal systems, areas of fire investigation and novel methods of evidence recovery from crime scenes. We also seek expertise in the recovery of digital evidence from crime scenes such as mobile phones and how other digital media and communications devices are used within investigations. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching at all levels (Level 4 to Level 7). We would also require and support you in maintaining your professional currency as a practitioner in crime scene investigation and /or policing.
