Publicerad 2024-11-04

The role

The Fluids and Aerodynamics Research Group at the University of Bristol is seeking multiple permanent academic positions specialising in aeroacoustics. We invite applications from candidates with expertise in either computational or experimental aeroacoustics, committed to advancing both research and teaching.

These positions present a unique opportunity to join a world-renowned research team at the forefront of aeroacoustics, aerodynamics, turbulence, and flow control. Successful candidates will contribute to ongoing research, collaborate with leading academics on innovative projects, and play an active role in the development and delivery of teaching materials. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students and supporting undergraduate research projects.

Our cutting-edge wind tunnel and high-performance computing facilities provide an exceptional platform for conducting groundbreaking experiments and simulations. We foster a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment designed to support professional development and career growth.

If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology and eager to collaborate with leading experts in the field, we encourage you to apply. The successful candidate will be appointed to a Grade J, K (Lecturer), or L (Senior Lecturer) position, based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.

What will you be doing?

Role holders will be responsible for research, teaching, and related administration, at both undergraduate and postgraduate taught levels. For the senior lecturer level, the role will entail leadership in developing and overseeing research and teaching activities at all levels. They will make a significant leadership and/or management contribution in the area of research and teaching. They will contribute to the delivery of high-quality research in aeroacoustics and aerodynamics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and undertake academic leadership roles.

The appointees at the Lecturer level (J/K) are expected to contribute actively to the group's ongoing teaching and research initiatives while working towards establishing their own independent teaching and research portfolios. Those appointed at the Senior Lecturer level (L) should demonstrate a proven track record in independent teaching and research, securing external funding, developing long-term strategic plans, and contributing to the management and leadership activities within the group.

You should apply if
  • A strong research background in aeroacoustics and aerodynamics.
  • A proven ability to perform independent research and collaborate effectively with others.
  • A clear and innovative vision for future research that complements and enhances current activities within the fluids and aerodynamics research group.
  • A passion for teaching and the ability to develop and deliver engaging, high-quality education in aerodynamics.
  • A collaborative approach to both research and teaching. If you have a desire to make a significant impact through both your research and teaching, we encourage you to apply.
